How, then, can they call on the one thay have not believed? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent?
Romans 10 v 14/15
Nikki Uglow - Team Leader for 'L.E.D'

Nikki manages Schools Band L.E.D. She previously worked in "Collective" a Christian girl band which worked in the high schools in Wiltshire and surrounding counties from 2006-2009. Having been trained in both singing and dance for many years, I believe that God called me to use these gifts in His Service.
"My main aim to make every moment count with the true message of God. I have a real heart to reach the young people at their level with the good news of Jesus and help them to make the right choices in life when dealing with the dilemmas that young people face today." A schools band is quite different from a normal Christian band that simply performs at a gig and moves on. It is never seen as "hit and run evangelism" which is why it is good to be able to return to perform and share in follow-up events.

Christian Uglow - Team Leader Oriel

Chris previously came from an events management company called Big Blue Box in Launceston and for the last six years has helped enable christian organisations provide a professional platform for events to reach people with the gospel. Chris has a real passion for music and feels this is a great platform to share the good news of Jesus.
"I really enjoy working with people who have the same heart and passion for reaching young people and helping them to become the solution instead of the problem in todays society."
Jeremiah 1 v18

The overall aim of L.E.D is to present the Gospel in an attractive and relevant manner to pupils in schools through the medium of dance and music. To be acceptable to schools the emphasis will be on making positive life choices from the perspective of a Christian and to sustain a professional approach from first contact to final concert. To be relevant to churches and other organisations it is essential that the band works closely with all those already established in schools and to be seen as a resource for breaking new ground in schools where there is no contact.
- To achieve 10 to 12 schools weeks during the normal school year covering roughly 12,000 pupils per year.
- To provide a full timetable of lessons relevant to RE, PSHE, Dance, Music, Citizenship and in accordance with the National Curriculum/national guidelines in these subject areas.
- To take assemblies wherever possible.
- To take lunch time workshops when requested/possible
- To finish each schools week with a concert in which the Gospel can be presented in a clear and open manner.
- To be available for follow up meetings in whatever form they take where relevant.
- To be available for one-off gigs.
- To visit churches to present the vision of the band and the work.
- To focus on the south west but where time permits to take schools weeks in other areas.
-
In practice the objectives are:
- Helping young people to reach their potential in the school and community and enabling them to be the solution rather than the problem by adopting positive life choices.
- Giving young people opportunities to explore the Christian faith.
- Helping to resource churches and other organisations working with young people to provide attractive events in which they feel comfortable.
